This is an awesome task, and an even awesomer first task.
A worthy first task,
to make a clever fake egg.
Gummies like Haiku.
Awesome.
Good mold releases help a lot. What kind of resin did you use?
Mold: Smooth-On OOMOO-30 tin-cure silicone rubber
Yolk: Super Sculpey polymer clay
Cast: Castin' Craft polyester resin
Until I sanded it down, the cast was still a little sticky. I think I didn't use enough catalyst, because I wasn't sure how "thick" it was going to be, according to the directions. Did thickness mean height or width in this case? I let it cure for two full days, but I still left fingerprints in it when I touched it. Maybe that was a case of reacting with the Vaseline, because once I sanded and buffed it (I love my Dremel tool) it wasn't sticky anymore. Next time I'll also make larger air vents and pour hole (I'm sure it would help to cast those into the mold instead of cutting them out later as I did).
Wow.
This is full of win!
So much win here!
It's like Doors albums in an egg!
I... I...
WOW. This is an amazing first task. Welcome to the game.
i suggest all your tasks be things you have never done before if you are capable of this level of win.
Seriously, if you did a task with something you were practiced at, the rest of us might have to up and quit out of despair of ever achieving the same level of awesome.
Wait, no, I would never have joined SF0 if I used that logic, not after seeing Dance Dance Immolation.
Brilliant! Super tasking.
Gosh, you could even have written a secret message on the inside of the egg shell, but I think I like the complete lack of any written explanation that the egg buyer would experience.
Dear Haiku, I would
like to welcome you to this
our home, love inky
Well, Burn Unit, you know what they say about a good trainer right?
Vote for an excellent first time 2-part mold making experience.
Thank you for sharing the step by step photos of your process. I think your egg is very pretty. You might want to be a little wary, though. Behind all that beauty, I just know it's hiding something.
This is amazing. I just wish you could capture the expression of the person who bought it.

Welcome to the game, O complete stranger of whom I know nothing!
