There's a ton of officers in London carrying around MP5's and the like.

Yeah, depends where you go. I come into Liverpool Street Station on the train, about 10 officers with guns, in the tube station there are two, loads outside Parliament, a few around the big areas.
I don't tend to notice them much but they are there.
Parliament, areas around the Palace, and Mr. Blair's house, all covered with men and guns.
I was standing slightly to the right, asking whether ORANGE balloons would be ok.
Cause I could totally do that, ya know.
