You know, I'm actually glad that I missed this earlier (having been in a period of not having enough time). :) This would have been much harder to read, if I didn't know it had a happy ending. I'm very glad you're still with us, susy.

This is actually something that came up a few times over the course of the day...that sense of how well you can get to know someone from their tasking. Even before I met her, I felt like I knew a lot about piratey. It's always different, of course, when you meet a living, breathing, moving person--and I feel like I know her much better after the experience--but I think that tasking, good tasking, reveals some of the deepest qualities of people, and can let you get to know them better than most other ways.

It sounds pretty crazy to keep in contact with someone you've never met before...and in retrospect, it certainly was. But it didn't feel like that at the time. It felt normal--which is perhaps the truest sign of insanity.

But sometimes we need a little crazy in our lives. :)

And there's a lot more still to come.

I was totally wrong, mixing up Lincoln and Roosevelt, whereas Lank was totally right. I'd just like to publicly recognize that. :)

It is mightily confusing that the presidents don't go in order of their terms.

Also, lurking piratey is scary.

Apparently $3.58, so far...not even sticker price. Well, it's still open until Monday; maybe people are taking advantage of ebay sniping. :)

I am filled with love and tears.

And amazed and grateful for your sharing this with us, Bex.

I think the main reason I don't think it should be posted here is partly for the same reason that people don't like retroactive completions--that the act wasn't done for SF0, as an act of Drive. SF0 isn't simply a news aggregator site (of which there are plenty and plenty of good ones)--if we were to post all the instances of non-players completing tasks, I think that's largely what it would be. But this is a place which encourages the players to take an active role in creating their own fun. It's a place where we can post our own creative accomplishments for the rest of the community to enjoy. And while I'm happy that this isn't the only place encouraging people to make the world a stranger place, and that there are all manner of strange and bizarre things that people do outside the site, I do think that's different from tasking.

Anyway, that's the way I see it. And that's why it feels odd to claim a praxis for this.

I don't think taking a photo from the internet and using it to claim a proof is a good idea, even if your sockpuppet is named 'non players'.
