Ponumbo (poh-numb-boh):
The ancient game of pondering-up numbers.
This is fun in itself, but if you need a random number, this can help.
Theory
Ponumbo is played by children and adults alike. Not only does it pass the time, but it is also good for the mind.
It is in some ways a form of meditation.
It also can inspire great ideas.
In the ancient days it was used by philosophers and MATHEMATICIANS to organize old thoughts and bring about fresh ones.
Now, this great game has been nearly forgotten. In the name of the Ezra Buckley Foundation, I wish to bring to light this once famous tradition.
Step One, "Po"
Clear your mind. Take slow deep breaths. Relax your body.
When you are sure you are fully at peace, continue to the next step.
Step Two, "Num"
Now, begin to let ideas and thoughts back into your head. But slowly.
One at a time, let them come and pass. When one comes along that interests you, focus a little more on it.
Take this thought and ponder on it some more. Define it. Give it a name, or many names, that describe it.
What does it remind you of? What memories come with it? Does it make you happy or sad?
Focus more, and try to find the best word that describes it.
When you have this, continue to step three.
Step Three, "Bo"
Now focus entirely on the word that has come to mind. (For synaesthetics, focus also on its taste/color/smell/other)
Add up the letters. A=1, B=2, C=3, ect.
Then...
Step Four, "Fin"
*If you just want a random number, then that is it.
*If you are playing Ponumbo for guidance, incorporate the number into your life by including it in your daily activities, whether by writing it on your soccer ball for good luck, or just carrying it around in your pocket.
Better yet, memorize the number.
*The game of Ponumbo encourages making numbers a part of your life. Everything is made of numbers.
So make up your own way to use the number!
