Public Surface by Tricia Tanaka

INSTRUCTIONS: Create a game that can be played using only pen and paper.

Bonus for playing your game on a public surface.

The name of the Game

The name of the Game

Is Phi-tac-toe. Not a very creative name, I know. But the game is cool. It popped into my head randomly. It's a variation of tic-tac-toe, using the beautiful spiral.

Four across

Four across

You can pretty much figure out how the game goes. Player 1 places their piece in any compartment. You win when you get 4 or 3 in a row. (Or 5, or 2. It depends how spiraly a spiral you draw.) I used Xs here, to make the game familiar seeming. But it is encouraged that you use your own personal symbol.

Three in a row

Three in a row

Here is someone winning with 3 across. This would make for interesting graffiti should you play the game on a wall or table. People will think the aliens are playing tic-tac-toe. "First crop circles.... Now THIS!" P.S. For fair gameplay, take turns drawing the spiral. Some may want more spaces, some less.

Is there any possible way to prevent the person who plays first from winning?

Best served grande?

This would be a game played better with larger spirals making more spaces to move, correct?
That's what you meant by "how spiraly a spiral you draw", right?

Exactly.
I'll edit it. I added a new rule.
Elaboration:
When explaining the game, you draw the spiral, but let the other player go first.
When that game is over, your opponent draws the spiral and you go first.
Best 2 out of 3 wins.

Darkaardvark:
Sure. Though as will normal tic-tac-toe it really just depends how clever your opponent is.
This version of tic-tac-toe is cooler looking and a little more complex.
More spaces to watch, you know.
Until you get good at it, it's pretty much a level playing field for anybody.
My little sister beat me.
And I created the game!

I ´ll vote if you elaborate enough on the "you take turns drawing the spiral". I think I´ll get it then.
Hey, writing instructions for games is hard.
