Instrument Creation II by babe

April 10th, 2008 2:27 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make an instrument out of an item found in the produce section of a grocery store.

Play at least one song on it. Then eat it.

I had so much fun doing this! That's a wonderful task. Thank you bex.

That's my material. As you can see I arranged it like a little landscape and the broccoli looks just like a little tree!

So, first thing before messing around with food that you have to eat later is to clean up and my table was really messy (from cutting a track in a record and things like that.)

I also cleaned the tools I need (I like these tool pics.)

Next thing I needed was some kind of plan and the easiest possibility exept percussions wich are boring seemed to me to be:
the magic flute

so I needed to make the carrot-pipe first:

oh! the carrot pipe!

next came the apple sound amplifier that wasn't good quality at all...

I had to fix it with an elastic ( that I'm not gonna eat if that's what you're asking yourselfe right now)
and I added the cucumber endbit with the mushroom-plug

It was almost finished, just a few holes where missing

and the little broccoli tree...

Okay, now I had to get ready for the gig.
I took my best dress, put some lipstick on and got on stage... I was so exited!

I composed this song especially for this task, it's called "meat" and I hope you enjoyed it!

and now it's time for dinner:

The sight of calipers and a can opener in the same setup filled me with joy.

I've always wanted to drill into a carrot

Looking at its construction, I honestly didn't think it was going to make noise. Awesome completion.

Having stood in the kitchen with a drill and a selection of vegetable it has been bought to my attention that this is even more amazing since I could not create a single sound.

Quite the insturment I made?
Quiet? Or quit? Instrument?
What? (haha, I'm no native speaker and this causes real problems...I don't understand this, but thanks)

"quite" is not an easy word to define... but the expression "Quite the instrument" indicates both that the instrument is unusual, and impressive.

Hah, I realize what trouble I have caused now!

It was a compliment, truly.

Thank you Julian for explaining.

what cracks me up is thinking that somewhere someone obsessively browsing youtube will come across these videos and think... i cannot imagine what. that strange stuff ends up on youtube.
