La Moustache Fausse by ♫ babe

May 13th, 2008 1:35 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Execute an epic addition of a false mustache to a publicly-viewable image (or multiple publicly-viewable images) over which you do not have original creative control.

Franz Xaver Gabelsberger, proud inventor of stenography was in bad need of a moustache.
Mr. Gabelsberger is like me not really the SNIDE type of person so we agreed on finding a solution that makes us both happy, me as an EquivalenZ and him as an UoA whatever ...inventor?

There he is:

I found him in the park next to the parlament and he seemed to be the only one around who hadn't a moustache yet. I found that someone who invents something like stenography is in bad need of a proper mousache.

I came over by night to take exact measure when the POLIZEI disturbed me:

I had to be careful! They looked very suspicious to me, I couldn't figure out what they were up to in this dark night...
I hurried up and left quickly. Everything else could be prepared at home!

Next day in early eavening I came back (with my new tasking bag!)

There was no police around , but a weird couple that seemed to be in the park to have a smoke.
They brought their own ashtray and smoked 3 cigarettes in a row each, always ashing in the little portable ashtray in her hands.

Eventually they left (after she emptied the ashtray in the littebox behind her) and I could do my work!
So here we have a last look on Franz Xaver Gabelsberger like he was

And here is the new, better and much more serious looking Franz Xaver Gablesberger.

I would say he looks like a Professor now.

It was clear then: This moustache is there to stay!

It's made to stay.

(I can't promise anything concerning the glue, but the moustache should be able to last for this summer. I will go there again tomorrow and see if the glue is good enough, othervise I'll find something better.)

Yes, Babe Hawaii is certainly very awesome.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves, and let's look at the best completion of this task to date (and possibly Babe Hawaii's inspiration for doing this).

Stenography is certainly a SNIDE invention.

It is definitely SNIDE (albeit with an Equivalenz bent). Moon Language! I traffic in that stuff every day.

i think most passers by might not even notice this mustache was not part of the original. impressive.

Funny, I thought I had already voted for this. Your forgery technique is amazing!!! I think this fulfills the "epic" requirement of the task in that it truly adds to the original artwork and yet is undetectable by the public. Bravo!

update!
I passed by the statue today and the mustache is still there!

It's there for four months now already and eventhough the gypsum has slightly started to fall a bit apart and the white is coming thrue on some parts it seems like it will make it another couple of weeks. I'll check it from time to time and keep you update here.

Finally!

Four months later and we get the first good picture of this Moustache Fausse.

Good work (again).

The other pics were not that bad, were they? It was dusk when I took them. I couldn't attach this mustache during proper photo-daylight. That's the parlament's park - it's busy during days.

The other pics weren't that bad, but they didn't show off the moustache. This one does.
