Not The intended Use by babe
July 20th, 2008 5:32 AMI did this task and documentation a while ago and after finishing it I was not sure about submitting it because some people might find that using gummies for tasking is not cool exept you are Evil Sugar. When I had the idea for this and while doing it I did not have the feeling to use someone else`s idea cause I don`t use the gummies as taskers and I could have done the same thing with the berries and it would be about the same outcome. But after I finished I thought that it could be understood in another way and I wasn`t sure about submitting it anymore. But I like it and so I decided now to submit it anyway and if you don`t like anything about it feel free to not vote (haha) or leave criticism in the comment section. (And if I get lot`s of criticism I will unsubmit. And also especially adressed to the gummies: I didn`t want to steal any ideas, if you feel that way tell me and I will unsubmit!)>
This task was made to honor the gummies.
In my completion of player portrait was a big mistake, there were no gummies on the picture.
Gremlin was so nice to tell me about the lack of gummies in the comment section so I promised to honor them in a future task and:
THE FUTURE IS NOW!
Next task I wanted to do was this one so I decided to use the gummies for their not intended use.
This was my first difficulty cause since they appeared on SF0 I'm not sure anymore if their intended use is really to be nommed or if it isn't probably tasking?
Anyway I decided to:
a. not nom a single bear during this taskcompletion
b. involve the gummies in a strictly passive way in the task, they don't task themselves here, they just enjoy.
So what is defenetly not their intended use is:
To be material for tools.

this was my material, I got two packs of bears for the task and one pack of berries for nomming.
As you can see on the next pic even the gummies like to nom them:

I started with arranging the bears in the shape of the hammer that I wanted to make

it was good to have the berry-snack, otherwise I might easily have eaten a few bears...

the berries were good!
when I had arranged the gummies in the right shape I started to tape them together...

and turned the whole thing around to build the other side.

I taped everything together properly...

...and had the hammer:

Now I had to show that the gummies are not just sweeties and gummy soft, but that they are tough and make a good material for tools:

I rinsed them a bit with water and then put them in the freezer.

Then I had nothing to do for a while, so I thought it would be nice to have a colored nail for this completion:

Next day I took the hammer out of the freezer and peeled the tape off

and:
hammered the pink nail in my wall to hang up the player portrait!
after that I wanted to seperate the gummies again:

I rinsed them and they looked almost like before:

just a bit wet.

yeah. what haberley said. every time i see a new babe praxis in the queue, i am so excited to read it, then sad when it is over and the awesomeness has finished...
it's because babe hawaii is a fricken genius.
Excellent!!! The gummies are happy that they were useful in such an unintended way :)
Excellent!
Also, schmecken die gefrorene Gummies gut? Oder hast du sie nicht gegessen?
The gummies were not very frozen anymore after rinsing them, but I didn't eat them anyway. I was kind of done with sugar after I finished the whole team of berries.
BEERENTRAUM!
I must say that I find the Haribo gummies very difficult to resist.
Gummy hammer! (I have a new idea for a gummy comic now...a gummy superhero...oh wait, Joss just did the hammer...)
Joss schmoss. I want to see Rainy make a Gummi comic.
Okay, we'll add a super hero to the ninja gummy; I'll get to work on that.
Do it! Yay! Yay! GummiHammer? Gammer? Hammi?
okay, so I wouldn't have had to worrie about that task so much... good!
Thanks!
I wish people in art school did such fantastic and practical things.
But alas, they are content to rub themselves in egg yolk and roll around on the floor.
See, this is more a task for folks in *design* school. (Hence I enjoy design museums - because it is art, but also useful)
juhu, finally!
ps: i love the look on your face after you've hung up the player portrait. content. :D

Wow.
VERY creative use of gummies - and very different from the gummies' usual role.
I heard that once you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
And suddenly, all I can see is that hammer in Super Smash Brothers. Except made out of gummy. Awesome.

I'm not going to put here anything about how this is a fantastic completion, or a great idea, because by now frankly it would be a bit redundant - all your praxes are amazing!
I was just wondering if this could usher in a new age for sweets as tools - will now now see liquorice screwdrivers, maybe? Perhaps a cola cube spanner? ...Of course, this would mean I'd be even worse and handyman-style jobs, due to a tendency to eat my equipment...
