DESCRIPTION:The Architect & The Urchin is a treasure hunt amidst a three-way game of tag. This is citywide psychogeography as experienced through need and greed.\n\nBASIC RULES:\n\n1) Search the city for hidden locations where you can stamp your map. 9 stamps are required to enter the finish line.\n\n2) Steal another player's Name by tagging them. Collect as many names as you can before reaching the finish line.\n\n3) Players will be given ribbons with one of three colors (red, green, or blue). Your color determines who you are hunting, and who is hunting you.\n\nThis is an active, fast-paced game with no suggested boundaries, with players traveling on foot (no cars, bikes, skates, or jetpacks allowed) about 5 miles through the city over 2-4 hours. Water bottles are recommended, good shoes are required. There will be many hills. Flashlights and working knowledge of what poison oak looks like may be useful to players who like taking "shortcuts".\n\nPrizes will be awarded for having the most names at the end of the game, for being the first to return with 9 stamps, and for being the first to return with all 12 stamps.\n\nGAME DETAILS:\n\nThe Architect has left Secrets around the city, which are in the form of rubber stamps attached to some feature of each location. Players collect these Secrets by stamping their maps. All Secrets will be placed within mile of Tank Hill.\n\nAt 6:30 pm, players will congregate at Tank Hill, where a mediator will give them the following:\n * a colored Ribbon (red, green, or blue)\n * a Name, on an elastic bracelet\n * a map with the locations of all 12 Secrets\n\nPlayers will tie their Ribbon to their left arm, and slip their Name bracelet over their right wrist. The Ribbon cannot be taken away. The Name can be stolen by other players. (Players can wear multiple Names at the same time.)\n\nYour Ribbon must be worn visibly on the upper left arm at all times. Your Names (if you have any) must be worn visibly on your right wrist. Hiding either your Ribbon or your Name is considered cheating, and is punishable by death.\n\nThe goal of each Player is to locate Secrets and accumulate Names.\n\nWhen all is ready, a mediator will release Players into the city in staggered groups, determined by their ribbon color. Players wearing the same color are not required to travel together, but they may.\n\nPlayers will move throughout the city, on foot, using any route they wish, stamping their maps when they locate each Secret. Players are allowed to walk, run, or ride buses.\n\nTo be eligible for any prizes, players must have at least 9 Secrets stamped on their map.\n\nDuring the game, if a Player wearing a Green ribbon catches (tags) a player wearing a Blue Ribbon, that Player must surrender all the Names that they are wearing. Blue players who catch Red players can steal their Names. Red players who catch Green players can steal their Names. The player with the most Names at the finish line at 11pm will be declared the winner.\n\nGreen chases Blue, Blue chases Red, Red chases Green.\n\nTAGGING:\n\n1) All players are "safe" within Tank Hill Park (including adjoining sidewalks) and within 10 paces of any Secret stamp.\n\n2) All players are "safe" while collecting Names from another player, and for 30 seconds thereafter, starting from when the last Name is handed over.\n\n3) All tags must be clean and fair.\n\n4) If there is any dispute over the fairness of a tag, it must be decided in the favor of the Player who was tagged.\n\n5) All disputes must be settled by Players present, at the time of the tag. If the tagged Player does not challenge an unfair tag at the time that the Name is handed over, the tag is fair. No disputes will be handled at the finish line.\n\nAn event awaits all players who arrive at the finish line. Awards will be presented at 11pm.\n\nThe Architect and the Urchin was designed by Dax Tran-Caffee.\n\n
