The plaque next to this bench reads In Loving Memory of Lorraine (Busse) Nordstrom October 15, 1925 February 4, 2001 She So Loved the World Miss You Einar I picture 75 year old Einar Nordstrom, a very reserved old Norwegian man like so many of the old Lutheran men I know so well in this part of the country: sitting in this spot filled with emptiness and loss over his beloved Lorraine, who he loved so purely and ardently for 50 years or more. They probably didn't talk about it much. Perhaps they loved this park together. This bench faces the lake. It would be a lovely spot to grow old together. While I was working not far away, I observed people before and after the chalk highlighting. I saw more than one person stop and actually read the plaque. I hope they were similarly moved.
