If you've been paying particularly close attention to the Praxis, you may have noted that I currently live in Chicago, that I didn't used to live in Chicago, and that I don't like that I currently live in Chicago.
I've been making artwork on this topic since I moved here a year ago, to include two songs, an installation, an audio tour of my apartment, countless little illustrations, etc. etc. Some of you might wonder, "Why doesn't he just move back to San Francisco already?!" -- This is none of your concern (ie. my diabolical scheme to conquer the world relies on planting myself in the Midwest for another year-and-a-half). But I just can't help but continue to bitch about this infernal place (apologies to those faithful Chicagoans who may read this). So I made a diorama.
This diorama displays the City of Chicago, the filthy, wretched place that it is. The illustrious Sutro Tower sits amid the detritus, elegant and pristine, but completely out of place. It has been transplanted here by nefarious means
, and awaits it's chance to return to Mount Sutro where it belongs...
(This is metaphor for my
situation, if you haven't picked up on that.)
But, I am proactive. I will affect my fate. I am sending this diorama, by trusty USPS, back to California. Stay tuned for updates on this little box's future adventures!
