Physical Email Experiment One by Halsted Bernard, Jason 7au, derek mccarthy, Rubin Starset, Starchy Grant, Kevin Smokler, lightgreenish

INSTRUCTIONS: A letter that is to be sent by USPS is given to player one. He or she types it up as an email and then emails it to player two, who prints it out, puts it back into an envelope and delivers it to the addressee. Feel free to include as many members as you wish by creating more nodes between the sender and addressee (player one emails player two who mails player three who emails player four who mails the addressee, etc.).

This one took the seven of us quite some time to get organized and executed. I think we might've slipped from our arrangements along the way, but we did what we could. While trying to play organizer to all of this, my appendix ruptured and I ended up hospitalized for the better part of a week, and am typing this from recovery at home.

Originally, our node order was planned as such:

1) Jason drafts the letter and hands it off to
2) Jenny, who types it up as an email and emails it off to
3) Rubin, who then has to print it out and hand it off to
4) Derek, who types it up and emails it to
5) Kevin, who will make the handoff to (while also inquiring about the literary activities of)
6) Starchy, who will type/email it to
7) Halsted, who will print it out, put it in an envelope, and stick it in the mail for the intended recipient.

Jason:
On April 1st, I ended up drafting up a quick letter at the St. Stupid Day Parade's after party, having just marched in it... I think it was during Wavy Gravy leading a sing-along, something about opera hats full of yellow chickens. I was actually with Eris and had been telling her about the game, so it was cool that she got to see the start of this. Once I had a letter drafted, we headed over to Washington Park to meet up with Jenny, and the hand-off was made...

Jenny:
It started out that I met Jason and his friend in Washington Square Park after the St. Stupid Day Parade's @ 1:30PM. We met briefly and he handed off The Letter. I took a picture of Jason for proof that i did meet up with him. I then continued my day off to The Exploratorium and palace of Fine Arts. As soon as a I arrived home I typed up and emailed off the letter to its next destination....

Rubin:
My sidekick buzzed in my pocket, woot, got the email. Hit up home, crap, no more paper! Making use of some awesome engineering green grid paper I pumped out the amazingness of the letter. Stuffed it in an envolope, dug around for stamps. Double crap, out of stamps! Since this ended up on a weekend, I shot Derek an email and asked if he'd like to meet up the coming Sunday night and maybe have some sort of dinner as I played temporary post-geek by just handing him the letter. Ends up we both became busy (new kick ass job for my self, don't remember what Derek said, something about fighting ninja's and the end of the world). Went to the post office late some week night there after, bought a few stamps out of the vending machine (been a while since I did that), and off the leter went right through the slot in the wall.

Derek:
After a hugely long wait between when Rubin mailed it out and when the Oakland USPS delivered the letter, post marked at least 4 days prior to my having recieved it, I was really enthused about this task. Immediately after recieving the letter, I typed it up and emailed it off to Kevin. Kudos to Rubin on the classy looking letter and Jason for organizing the completion of this task.

Kevin:

Starchy:
Was never of seeing no thing. Am never to knowing why!
[It's true, and it's my fault. After I got back from the hospital, I had email from Kevin saying he had lost his instructions and I was like all frazzled and stuff and I didn't check the order and I was thinking it was Derek-Starchy-Kevin-Halsted instead of Derek-Kevin-Starchy-Halsted and ended up telling Kevin to just email it to Halsted, who then mailed it out. Oops. I suggested to Kevin and Starchy that they should meet up anyway, even if they don't carry out the leg of the task, because I put them in their order so two lit editors could meet up. -Jason]

Maybe this actually didn't get to "Starchy" because he wasn't the real Starchy! Sorry you got taken in by him, Jason, but don't feel like you need to cover up his tracks.
