Six (or more) Degrees of Kevin Bacon's rock band by Jason 7au

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose two highly contrasting bands/musicians/composers. Go to allmusic.com, and start on the page of the first - explore "similar artists" until you reach the second. To prove your achievment, list all artists in the chain from the first to the second.

Lucia Pamela recorded an album in the late 60s called "Into Outer Space with Lucia Pamela," which had her taking us along for a lo-fi trip to the moon. It was kinda bad, but totally out there in a good way. She couldn't sing particularly well, but that didn't stop her from kind of sing-talking her way through some of the songs. Stereolab ended up writing a song about her. She died in obscurity, living her life out in Hollywood.

Cake is a band out of Sacramento that may have gone to the moon if they could have thrown the money together. Their frontman, John McCrea, sings better than Lucia, but often does that sing-talking thing as well. That's the only thing these two musical acts have in common, except for the fact that the photo of Lucia in her album has her sitting in front of a cake.

Still, somehow, it's a short path:

0) Lucia Pamela
1) The Shaggs
2) Half Japanese
3) Camper Van Beethoven
4) Cracker
5) Refreshments
6) Presidents of the United States of America
7) Cake

I'm also saying "Einsturzende Neubauten" for Sean, who thought someone should say it.
