The Canon by Harry Lee, Levitating Potato, GYØXON Tom

June 11th, 2008 11:34 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make an improvement/amendment to a canon.

-or-

Make an improvement/amendment to a cannon.

Welcome to SFØ Quotepaste.

It's the logo of DOOM! Not really.

"It's the quotable brick of awesome that is SFZero, refined into a smooth creamy quotepaste, just for you. Quotepaste is kind of like toothpaste, except it's healthier and it doesn't taste quite so minty."

- SFØ Quotepaste Home

We're proud to bring you http://sf0quotepaste.com!

Remember, this can only grow and flourish with your help. Add some quotes, vote some quotes and make Quotepaste awesome.

(Dok Harmon was also in on this, but he has already completed this task. I advise you go and check out his completion too)

1. Dear god, a bash clone. Love it.

2. How does this complete this task?

It depends on whether or not you see "re-arrangment" as an "improvement/amendment".

Who needs mint when one can have this... +4

Refining, yes, the monolithic brick, I do so like it.
But, does the design include the ability to click away and cast multiple quote votes for the same quote?

I should make it very clear that I do love this site, it's an AWESOME idea.

EDIT: I'll vote for the idea.

Dear Skype,

Is it wrong that my life has more meaning now that I have found you? I can hardly remember what my life was before your brilliance appeared. Please never leave me.

Love,
Minch

Quotepaste is like toothpaste, and toothpaste is like frosting! The gummies approve.

No quotes by me? Has a year of being a damn comment monkey really come to this? Erased from the canon? Fie! The meaninglessness of my existence overwhelms me! ::sob::

This site is all about user-submitted content... so I call upon some users to find the greatest of Bex quotes for us!

My hero. ::wipes away tears::

p.s. I think the most quoted thing I ever set in motion on SF0 was this: Down with Hills.

Am I missing something on Quotepaste? Well, yes, I am, but the question is whether or not it is there and I can't see it, or if it is not there and should be.

The quotations do not seem to have proper attribution as to where and when the quotes occurred, so that if one wanted to look back for context one would have to search and dig.

As we've found in the current court caste by Jo Rowling and Warner Brothers against Small Publishing and Web Guy, proper attribution is vital when amassing a lexicon of quotes.

I believe JTony is right, there should be an input form on who said them, when they were said, and in what context, to neaten things up, I think.

Possibly a link back to the original if available (obviously this wouldn't work for skypequotes).

The whole point about quotes is that they go beyond their actual limited context. These things are great no matter if he said them on a stage or waiting in line at the cleaners.
Wasn´t this about distilling awesome? In order to clutter it back with links and dates? Geez.

Hear hear.

I'm entirely ok with the absence of context. I miss so much on the first go round, it's just nice picking it up at all. Denser form don't hurt a whit.

Quotes taken out of context are always the best…

Your upgrade to QuotePaste has been received.

How about now?

But you still have to load a different page just to read…

You voted for that quote. That quote is now exceedingly happy with itself, and thanks you for your support.

I have no idea at all how to make it not need refreshing.

Anyone?

What if it refreshed but the comment came up on the page you were on?!
Also my comment up there hasn't gotten nearly enough votes.
