INSTRUCTIONS: Complete this task. Post pictures on how you did it. This task will self-destruct in one month (June 21st).

Bottling your Home-brew:

- smaller

The boil

The boil

2 weeks ago (at least) you mixed your ingredients, boiled 'em up, and threw it all in your carboy (with some yeast!) to ferment.

It's alive!

Sanitized bottles

Sanitized bottles

Collect a mess of bottles, clean and sanitize the shit out of them. Clean and sanitize anything that's going to come into contact with your beer while you're at it.

Siphoning

Siphoning

Now you're going to want to pop off the carbonation lock from your carboy and siphon your beer into a bottling bucket (a bucket with a tap on bottom for easy filling of those bottles) and bottle your beer. Oh yeah- don't forget to add a little boiled sugar to the mix if you plan on carbonating it in the bottles. 5oz of sugar in 1 cup of water for 5 gallons beer.

Capping

Capping

Once you've bottled the beer, boil the caps to sanitize them, and cap the bottles. You can use something like that neat little device on the bottom-right.

Box and store

Box and store

Now store your beer in a cool, dark place to condition and carbonate for at least another 2 weeks.

Dispose of the leftovers (spent yeast and hop grit). I like to save it until it settles again, then drink the beer off the top. To each his own..

Have a taste

If all goes according to plan, you'll have something like this to look forward to!
