Tasks / 100 Words

This task is retired.

Cut 100 individual words out of different newspapers and magazines or whatever print source you like. Assemble them into some sort of story or poem or such. Try to choose words that call out to you and try not to plan out what your story will be ahead of time. Create a little book for you to paste your story words into.

I spent several days slowly pulling pieces together for this L0 completion. It reads:

Dreaming is only the beginning…
From Genesis To Revelation you Seek a woman in 739 miles of Egypt.
“Coffee, relationships, sex, career and .”
Beautiful hair, Better eyes and lust(y) lips; add water.
YOU fall in love with her.
everything you want.
A package covers alcoholic beverages, as well as life
She is the place where worries and cares disappear,
One-of-a-Kind KISSES make you want her
Never Vamos

Injection Day,
a couple in their spirited embrace.
“Join us father,” your family says.
enough smiles for everyone.
do you really love it?
time is precious
Entertainment
(Live)

What Makes Life Simple?

100 words by space bug June 13th, 2006 9:48 PM

This task was harder than I imagined it would be. I didn't allow myself very many articles to work with, so it came out as more abstract epithets than much of a cohesive narrative. Also, to avoid myself smooshing around different words for ever and ...

100 words by Lars K February 7th, 2007 8:18 PM

100 Words reminded me of high school afternoons spent zine-crafting with moody goth friends down in the South Bay. Gotta love SFZero for bringing back swell memories... ;) For this task, I snipped images and text from offset printing and design broc...

100 words by Ink Tea July 19th, 2006 12:02 AM

I think this might call for some sketches around the outsides of the words. I'm going to sleep on it, and maybe do that in the morning. "He's the unexpected puzzle, blurring my voracious wildfire into the night and leading everyone out of this hu...

100 words by alice gray September 8th, 2006 7:21 PM

Began with a fairly recent copy of one of each of these magazines: Wired Vogue Adbusters I felt pretty good about reusing them since I had already read them and even handed them around a little. And the triumverate seemed like a stable one som...

I cut up a bunch of words and made an illustrated story on a two sided poster. Here are some of the sentences: SIDE 1: Heavy spaces fire up. That - it's electrifying. As our ingredients subtly agree PSSST... A fast moving action fight strikes, lose...

This task WAS much much funner than crzy bones thought it would be. She spoke WITH jesus and she told her that she needed to not create a book. She TOLD her that she needed to do the style of collage crzy bones has been doing for years and to lay t...

100 words by mock piratey turtle June 30th, 2006 2:42 PM

100 words cut from newspapers. i tried to be wise and get myself plenty of connecty words like "of" and "and" and "the", but nevertheless found myself wanting more at the end. no cheating, though. spent more time than i'd like to admit, arranging and...

100 words by Allie Schrader June 16th, 2006 4:26 PM

This became very complicated when i realized that there were close to no magazines in my place of residence. never the less, my greatest accomplishment was cutting out enough articles beforehand, they were very helpful. The book is made out of white ...

100 words by Stone Saints June 30th, 2006 5:41 PM

This took a lot longer than I though it would--but it was fun. And the results surprised me. I wasn't very good about cutting out those small but necessary words, such as "and", "to", "as", etc... But hopefully you'll agree that the words I did choos...
