I was just thinking about doing this with actual fortune cookies but they are actually very difficult to make… I believe you need a deep fryer.

I wanted to install messages like, "Help I'm being held hostage in a fortune cookie factory!"
-or- very specific fortunes such as…"You will share an attraction for someone on the MUNI but will not act on it."

Actually, you don't need a deep fryer at all. I made a huge (like a foot tall) fortune cookie where the fortune was my resume for a job for a marketing company that wanted the resumes to come in in a creative manner. The difficult thing is forming the cookie before the dough hardens. I can give you the recipe if you like.

i've taken already made fortune cookies and steamed them, and they open right up! then you can insert the message of your choice, hold the ends together and they harden right up.

only problem... how to get them in packages and have people actually want to open them...

serendipitous fortunes i didn't even plant
posted by Cat A sTrophe on February 17th, 2009 9:40 PM

This totally happened to me! Maybe someone really sneaky on SF0 planned it. I was wandering around my living room just cleaning up my house about 2 weeks ago. I'd spent the weekend with my boyfriend, after being sick for a week, and he'd left and I was just wondering what to do with myself for the afternoon. As I moved stuff around and cleaned, a fortune just appeared on my coffee table that I hadn't seen before. It said, "You will take a pleasant journey to a place far away."

I asked the boyfriend later and he had no clue where the fortune was from...it's just some kind of happy magic. So, which of you guys planted it?

And, where should I go? If I plan the trip, does it no longer count, or is the fortune telling me that if I plan something it will go well?

I infultraited the breakroom at the local Sears and planted a couple dozen fortunes in the fridge. I had just enough fortunes and just enough time to do the whole thing under the radar.

I've been thinking about this task for a little while and came up with what I wanted to do a few days ago, but it took the need to run an errand to buy some duct tape for me to get around to implementation. I decided to keep it somewhat small since I...

At first, I had the idea to put my fortunes in walnut shells. But I anticipated a very high breakage rate from any walnuts I shelled, and I was having some trouble coming up with fortunes. Months went by, and then I thought of eggshells. This notio...

I wanted to complete this task for a few days and had gone through the effort of compiling a list of fortunes and printing them out. I was somewhat inspired by my completion of the "Merci" task, where I posted a thank you sign in the file room at my...
