nice.... too bad i don't have a family home. might i go to a junk yard|thrift|antique store and find keys... and then make up a history for them?

I suppose you could... OR you could find someone with a family home (or apartment, I notice that keys are one of those things people take with them rather than throwing out... I have keys here for almost all my ex-apartments, (and 4 of my 5 ex-cars)), and then get them to help you discover the history of them...

Really I thought of this more as a way to reconnect with a personal (or family) history. If the person doesn't happen to be family, that doesn't really change the nature of the exercise, but random bought keys would...

There's a key I found lying in the street my home is on. I have no idea what it opens, but I carry it around anyhow.

and THAT sort of narrative thinking is why you'll always be prepared when you find that one book in the back of the old shop, or get sucked through the portal to Faery... I bet you free animals you find trapped in thorn bushes and carry old crones across rivers too...

That's good, I'm always finding lost keys m'self. That might be a good way to pursue this as I too lack an ancestral family manse.

I wish those old crones would just use the bridge. I mean, I don't mind carrying them across the river, but I've got stuff to do. I can't be doing it all the time.
