Tasks / Urbane Exploration 1

Find a building which is in active use. Explore it thoroughly and get to know its secrets.

Politely talking your way into the heart of the building is an excellent way to understand its psychogeography, and see how it affects those who occupy it. Your interactions with the building's owners and inhabitants (employees, residents, etc) are to be strictly positive; recruiting the authorities as guides is a far, far better thing than being ejected by them.

Completing this task in proper exploring attire, which may include such accoutrements as a waistcoat or a monocle, will likely result in additional votes.

Yes, especially for monocles and waistcoats. I mean how ELSE did the British explore the world.

Pith helmets as well. That and a waistcoat have helped me explore scary territory.

Oh, man, doing this. So many of the buildings at my campus are large and sprawling and upsettingly complicated. BUT NO LONGER!

Also, I own a pith helmet. I might even wear it. Although, if Sponty comes along, he gets to.

Oh this is such a throwback to college days- exploring the tunnels under campus. Though, we didn't so much ask for a guided tour....

I know somebody who managed to get a guided tour of the steam tunnels from the head of facilities management once.

I think somewhere like the London Underground would be a good place to do this. There are so many tunnels and secret areas.

If anyone wants to get in here... I work here can point in the direction of the basement, and sub basements.

We don't have steam tunnels. Or basements... :( oh well, I will find someplace even cooler to explore....

The Hibben Center for Archaeological Research appears (from the outside) to be your normal sort of modern university classroom building. The interior is comfortably spacious, with an open lounge area in the atrium, surrounded by classrooms and fac...

Just went to that bar (mentioned in the description for the first image) for the first time, and it's pretty good. There are two windows that reminded me of this one:

I decided to explore my church this morning. There are actually a lot of cool secret places there. Pastor opened some of the doors for me and had to watch when I climbed up into the ceiling, which was awesome. My church is also used as a ballroom.

I decided to task while in Berlin. While there I decided to perform this task because there are so many insane buildings. I decided on the Spandau Citadel because we were visiting it and it was... a castle. Does that not spell awesome? This castle ...

I visited the Chihuly Museum in downtown St. Petersburg recently, and was pleasantly surprised by the building and the people who worked there. It was interesting to wander around and notice all of the exhibits that reflected light. The inhabitants ...
