Terms / iou

If you have found this term on one of your completions it means I wanted to vote but was out of points. It, also, means I thought it was important enough to vote that termed it IOU to make sure I didn't just forget. In a case of blatant quid pro quo you could vote for one of my completions to give me a little points boost and I will be sure to retaliate. Same as votelater / points drought but with little more flair and a hint of contractual back patting.

IOU refers to the following completed tasks:

I'm intrigued... Why is it only these tasks.

When you task, you'll get more points! Send me naked mail maybe?

There's already a term for that.

The non-obvious thing about votelater is that you can then go to http://sf0.org/yourname/terms and see what you personally termed votelater (or anything else).

And actually, when someone has already used the term votelater on a task, you have to come up with something new.

Well, that depends what the goal is, doesn't it? If you want to be sure that other players see that a new term has been added, then yes, it makes sense to add your own personal term. If you're just keeping track for yourself, then it works just to re-term it as votelater. It'll then show up both on your list of things-you've-termed and on the other person's list.

To make sure I knew what I was talking about, I tested the above- to see, go to my terms page and see that I've added the term "test" to the task "Depravation". If you click through to the task, though, and hover over "test" you can see that I'm the second player to add that term.

...All told, I think it makes sense for Identity Crisis to be using "iou" instead- visibility is important if you're going for back patting!

Ah, I didn't realize that even works! Thanks a lot!

No problem! I feel like the comment threads are where I've learned the most about the game and the site, so I like to share information when possible.

I try to leave threads to my completed tasks all over everywhere. I don't think it is real effective but I pick up a stray vote every once and a while. I know how I browse when I am bored and just look at a lot of old completions and follow the links where ever they may lead.
