Strange Foods by Saint

INSTRUCTIONS: Go to a grocery store and buy a fruit or vegetable. Take it home. Find its latin and common names and also find out what "family" it belongs to. Find out what season it is harvested, where it is commonly grown, and how to grow it. Find out as much as you can about it. Eat it.

Additional points if you produce an info card and place it in the market next to that fruit/vegetable.

Well there aren't many strange, edible vegetations at, or around my house, so i opted for a green bell pepper. The Green Bell Pepper, isn't in fact a green pepper at all. Though it's color may be green, they are actually an unripened red bell peppers. That is why red bell peppers are sweeter. The scientific name for the bell pepper is, Capsicum annuum, and the family is Solanaceae. Another thing about Bell peppers is that they are fruit, not vegetables as most people may think. Florida, Texas, and California are the highest bell pepper producers in the country, and they hand harvest the peppers after 60-90 days after trans-planting. Bell peppers require warm, humid climates to grow, and can be eaten raw, grilled, or any other way you please. Bell pepper nutrition facts are as follows:

For realizing that there are seeds inside bell peppers... err... Capsicum annuum, I should say.
