Note To Players by Rubin Starset

INSTRUCTIONS: Compose a statement that you feel should be shared with all SFZero players.

Your statement should be useful, enlightening, or, at the very least, novel and funny.

What to do and not do with other character's phone numbers

Phone numbers are an iffy thing here on SFZero. Many of us higher scoring players know it's not the best of ideas to give out your number to someone you have yet to meet. There are also a span of player who'll go to great lengths to extract contact information of others. Piratey Monkey and Oliver have both been playing this game for YEARS, they know what I'm talking about.

So I think a lot of this comes down to how one gets a number, and because of that, is it ok to utilize this number for personal gain in the city of SFZero. In the folds of the net contact information can be found by the boat loads, I should know, as there are a portion of players whom I know much about (/me points at you). At this point I think it's safe to say that said player is ready to gain some points off of you, but only if the number was gained through other channels.

On the flip side what if another player, out of a gesture of good will, gives you his/her number. Ohhh let's say right after a large ambush, to help you gain more points through the DeathMarch, to figure out where to meet up half way? Helping you to score, it's fucked up to screw that guy over, especially in a jack ass sort of way that cannot even come close to the quality of many completed tasks here in SF0. Now I'd say it's a good idea to only use this number as a way to contact this player for collaboration organization. Being nice to this person (i.e. not an ass hole) also get's multiplied because the dude paid for your MUNI fair twice and gave you a fucking ride back in the direction of your car.

Ok, moving on, so you did your research, the kid isn't Googlable, but through other channels you've got a number, and the nice dude didn't just flat out give it you because he was being a nice dude. What to do with the number? An adventures yet totally freaky idea would be to have multiple friends call this number up, at once (the same time, down to the second), and recited different lines from a slightly well known song on their voice mail. This would totally have been awesome, funny, freaky, and within the ideas, culture and vibe of SFZero.

The letters and number "S F 0" doesn't stand for Lame Jack Ass Shit You'd Do Growing Up In A Shitty Town During Your Failing Middle School Years. A good example could be calling someone over and over again within the span of 5 hours, repeating such retarded classics as...

- Frank your pizza is ready, you need to pick it up.
- Hi, are there any messages for me?
- Is Frank there?
- Hey Frank your missing the party.
- (Male with deep voice impersonating a female) FRANK.
- Hi Frank, this is Jim with the sheriff's department.
- Etc.

This shit is lame, more so as after the first few, they get forwarded to a dead thing called voice mail, which happens to delete them the next morning. Also when you happen to have a laps of OH SHIT I'M A DUMB ASS, remember to use *67 before making your calls from your motel room in Vegas.

So around forwarded call #27 player answers the phone to inform you that he/she has called the police and filed a harassment report with your number, at this point it would be a smart idea to DROP THE LAME SHIT, apologies profusely, and give up. It's also not the greatest idea to claim you have an unauthorized phone recording of said player demanding/extorting 250 points in the game of SFZero from the each of you in order to call the police back and have the whole harassment thing dropped.

Now I'm not saying that it's bad because a recording of such would/wouldn't hold up with the fuzz, but because that recording, dealing with a harassment investigation, mentions the game of SFZero. And as I discussed before, this nice dude, giving you his number so you can participate and gain more score, would much rather let go of a total of 500 points, then allow the slight possibility that three nice engineers may have to deal with any sort of hassle from the cops.

To summarize, there's a fine line here, and that line is is about 3 pixels wide, it splits the amazing beauty of how a many tasks have been completed in the awesome city of SFZero, and the retarded jack-ass-ness that, in my opinion, just flat out doesn't count. I'm just glad the votes system sort of works. I am not glad I had to waste my lunch dealing with the PD.

Didn't think it would have been this easy to prove my point.

ROFL
I would like to thank you Rubin for making that night awesome.
I honestly didn't think that night was going to get any better.
Thought the phone was off and we were just going straight to voice mail.
Oh god I love SF0 :D

p.s. You do still have my number so you can get me back.... but that wouldn't fit your character.
