Renew An Old Correspondence by Rubin Starset

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a letter to someone that you or your character has not heard from in a long time.

I did one better I think, I had lunch with the guy.

Pix is someone I've known for a good long time, almost ten years now I think. I'm pretty sure we met through EGN at some point, a ICQ like chat network/client that worked for a while, then not for a while, then back again. Met a few people through that network. We stayed buds since then. I'd chat with him every so often through other networks, times in between these session would be months if not years.

It had been another one of those years and I figured it was about time I dropped him a line. Ends up he moved to SF, and currently goes to the art school now. Crazy! After a couple failed attempts at getting him to meet up with me, for the first time in the non-internet world after knowing each other for almost 10 years, we finally meet.

Had lunch at Ananda Fuara, a vegan place around Civic Center. We talked about the old network, where life was going, the evolution of populations around social networks, staying local versus being truly mobile-like-wireless, our sites, and general geek stuff. Ah, just like old times, but not through a chat window.

I explained SF0 to him, even invited him to do a task with him after lunch, but it seems like he had other plans. Hope he joins some time soon. Hope we hang out soon too.
