Welcome by Rubin Starset

INSTRUCTIONS: Give a cordial welcome to a new SFØ Player!

I felt like getting some of this down, especially on the site. There was much communication between myself and this player, some in person, some over the phone, some in a SMS chat log that has since then disappeared. Needless to say that this player is very much active, even after my warnings of a dead relic this site has become. Here are some excerpts of me sort of ranting on...

...

Collaboration is a very good way of meeting people, so is rivalry. Basically any interaction is good.

...

Well, you're in the same place as my character. I on the other hand don't play as much, though my character has been known to go along with others and do its own thing from time to time.

...

SF0 is really great when (a) you're out of a job and have lots of free time or (b) your creativity needs a kick start or (c) a combination of the first two. Since I started playing in 2006 and stopped about a year after that, I mostly can't find time to play much anymore, or have other creative projects that take up myself as a resource and doesn't leave much else for SF0. Kind of suck, but I think I got what I needed out of the game.

...

Now I mostly just chase people.

...

The community right now is very interesting. One thing some of us (those who've been around and have seen generations of players come and go) have notice is the current population is very friendly and positive. Good rivalries are rare. Players versus players is what made the game intense when I played.

...

Like I said, my character is sort of doing its own thing right now, though that's starting to die too.

...

I have yet to meet a dinosaur.

...

Hello from Burning Man.

...

In those days we'd check the site multiple times a day. If you were a good child, the engineers would tell you the link to an RSS feed with updates regarding everything around the site. Things would happen over night.

...

I leave you with this...

Though this is hypocritical coming from me, it wouldn't be as abandoned if people didn't leave it. There are days of glory which have passed, and i believe days of glory yet to come.

On a completely unrelated note, It's fantastic to meet you!!!!!!!!!

Commenting on someone's completed task isn't meeting them, chump.

Pixie, I like your vision of glory yet to come.
I am always skeptical of the meme that things were a lot better in the past, though I am sympathetic to the common feeling of nostalgia for the people we now think we used to be, and the times we now think we used to have.

i was looking at http://sf0.org/Lank/Miracles-Abound/ and noticing how many people simply voted on that, and how people were into it, and how ugh language anyway i wish things were bigger and sweeter and more true. i wish this game were the magical wonderland it apparently once was. but too bad, things are different now, let's see what we can do with what we have.

set it on fire?

I think there's been more fire, water, and earth tasking compared to air already, but I'm not going to complain if folks want to do more fire stuff.
