Slow Motion Minutes by Anthony Burt

February 26th, 2008 8:17 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Take a few minutes out of every hour for one day to do everything in slow motion.

Slow Mo It was more than a intresting expirence to go in and out of slow motion. it allways seems as if the world starts moving really fast...and various tasks are imposible to do in slow motion...your body does not like to do stuff slow..

I started the task opimistic and deciding the night before that i would go from 7 am to 7 pm. i tried to go in to slow motion for 3 to 5 min. periods at the head of each hour.i stayed within 5 min of each one.
i will list where and what i was doing at each of the times.

7:00 am, I was at home walking torwards my bathroom to brush my teeth. ( very akward felling brushing ur teeth in slow mo)

8:00 am, I was at school on the middle of my zero period (jazz band) when the clock struck 8 it is very very very Dificult to play a instrument at a slow pace well everyone else is going fast.

9:00 am, I was now in first period (World History) at the time i was just listing to a lecture and did not move much

10:00 am, I was in my second period ( p.e.) right at 10:00 i was changing for my class. the felling of puting your clothes on very slowly is un explaniable.

11:00 am, I was still in my second period how ever now we had moved on to football, people got mad at me when i started doing stuff slow as exspected.

12:00 am, I just had reached my destination of third period ( english ) and was taking out my notebook and preparing for class.

1:00 pm, I was now in the middle of my third period we were discussing and i showed little activity or movement. ( Note when u are in slowmotion u get very itchy)

2:00 pm, i was now in my forth and final period ( spanish) i was translating a paragraph, it is dificult to write in slowmotion ur body wants to go fast. How ever you write very neatly.

3:00 pm, End of school, i was patiently wating for the bell to ring

4:00 pm, I was at track practice i snuck away and had a drink of water

5:00 pm, the same as 4:00

6:00 pm, I had got home and had just hoped on to my computer, it is very dificult to complete basic computing skills in slowmotion with out becoming very iritated

7:00 pm, I was playing Call Of Duty 4 on my ps3, it is imposible to play that game in slow motion

At this point i was complete. i had notice a couple of things throughout the day, one is that when you come out of a slowmotion phase your body gets use to it and does not want to speed up again. Another thing is that some tasks such as Playing a instrument, athletic sports, and computer/videogames are very dificult things to do in slow motion.

I would love to get some feed back and clarify any questions you may have
Sincerly, Anthony

Since you're new, my suggestion to you would be to get actual proof other than text, it would probably help.

I disagree with Robert, above. There are many, perfectly reasonable tasks that have been completed very well with just text, and text counts as "actual proof" just as photos and videos do. I will agree that the splash of the image or video does grab people's attention a bit more, but sometimes a task doesn't need it.

I like what you did here, a lot. I've avoided this task because of worries of having to suddenly drop my speed when someone needed me to be fast.

A few questions:
Did you talk in slow motion when you spoke? What was it like drinking in slow motion when you snuck off during track (nice cover, by the way)? Did you come to appreciate certain tasks a little more when you did them slowly, or did some become more combersome (you touch on this, but I want to hear more). Lastly, did you learn any interesting lessons, and will you be carrying anything away from the experience (for instance, will you be doing certain things in slow motion in the future based on what you learned here)?

Anyway, very nice job. Welcome to the game!

To answer your first question, Did you talk in slow motion. I did not i debated this the night before but could not find a good way of doing it, i tryed syllable break down, etc but it just didnt sound right.

To answer the question about drinking water in slowmotion its a very wierd thing. u tilt the bottle back slowly but the water doesnt allways like to go slow. it becomes a mixture kind of wierd. give it a try next time ur drinking water.

Definatly something i apreciate more is to be able to react quickly if something is thrown at you or if you have a itch. Its seems like it takes for ever or you look like a fool. I also see the great importance of muscle memory. You also fill clumbsy alot. Other than that there isnt anything that stuck out to much. I dont know if i learned anything important. but one thing ( im shur this goes for all people) is that i wright extremly neat in slow motion.

It's not that I don't think text doesn't qualify as actual proof, but I think there are some tasks that call for something beyond text. Vote for recording your whole day and remembering to do it every hour on the hour.
