Dérive by Insert Witty Name

March 10th, 2008 2:21 PM / Location: 37.768628,-122.4788

INSTRUCTIONS: Among the various situationist methods is the dérive [literally: 'drifting'], a technique of transient passage through varied ambiances. In a dérive one or more persons during a certain period drop their usual motives for movement and action, their relations, their work and leisure activities, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.

One can dérive alone, but all indications are that the most fruitful numerical arrangement consists of several small groups of two or three people who have reached the same awakening of consciousness, since the cross-checking of these different groups' impressions makes it possible to arrive at objective conclusions.

Undertake a dérive, and report your objective conclusions to your fellow players.

My first task, at last, it is complete! My journey began on the bus heading toward 48th and Irving. I was going to my friend Seth's house with Seth himself and another friend named Katherine (I call her Fluffy). We decided to stop at 21st and Irving before going to Seth's house. We were hungry and wanted donuts. We got donuts (and with the help of a kindly passerby we attained a can of Sprite). As we exited the donut shop Katherine requested we venture into Golden Gate Park. That's when it hit me, "We shall!", I exclaimed! We quickly traveled through the three blocks between us and the park and upon entering we found a tree.

Focus on the tree not Seth.

We then ventured further into the heart of the forest! Well, park, but saying forest sounds cooler. We stumbled upon a lake, lucky for us none of us stumbled into the lake. Across the lake we spotted a blue building.

See? Blue building. We wanted to know what is was, but we didn't want to swim, so we went around. along the way we found a piece of concrete (from the sidewalk)

I skateboarded down it and fell. As I was standing up I spotted ducks!

Yipee! Ducks!

We finally managed to walk our way around the lake and got to the blue building. It had cool paintings, which, sadly were not captured by the camera.

You can see me and Seth though. After this picture was taken we trudged back up the the hill that led us to the blue building. Our small party then came across a fence. Inside this fence was a statue. By placing camera's lens inside one of the openings in the fence Fluffy was able to get a nice picture of the statue.

I thought it was nice. Seth became the alpha in our group and saw a sign. for some reason I deemed it worthy of a hug.

Following the road quickly became dull. Our party returned to the park... I mean forest!! The next interesting thing we saw was an oddly shaped stump-like-thing

Returning to the bus line we found an interesting flowering plant.

I just had to smell it

Along our travels we also happened to come across a stork, or a crane, or some type of pretty white, tall bird.

Finally our small group found a tree. "How unusual", you may be thinking. It was a different tree, a tree with hanging pines. We found it amusing.

So furry...

We finally arrived at Seth's house (via skateboards) and upon our arrival I devoured his ice cream. And we all live happily ever after (so far).

Tree
The blue thing, not the duck
That's me in the checkered sweater.
This time look at the ducks
I'm not a great ninja...
A piece of the sidewalk
It's a shame that so few have seen this
near where the buffalos used to be
'Tis a sign!
It reminds me of a gummybear
Pretty flower-plant
I think I look kind of funny here
Not a very good picture...
Bird
Fur tree

Nice, John! Rocking jacket, b-t-w...

The white bird is an Egret... a Great Egret by the looks of it... there are also littler ones that look exactly the same... only littler... that are called Snowy Egrets. Related to Herons and Cranes, but whiter and, again, littler.
