INSTRUCTIONS: Check out "suspicious" library books in an attempt to be flagged by the the FBI. List specific books.

21st July 2008.
I'm a BIG book lover. A completion elsewhere caused me to out myself as having fictonecrosis and I've put myself at great risk by completing this task.

A random google search brought up the following list.

1. Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys by Dave Barry
2. The Masters of Deception: Gang That Ruled Cyberspace, The by Michele Slatalla
3. Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media by Edward S. Herman
4. 1984 by George Orwell
5. Pot Planet: Adventures in Global Marijuana Culture by Brian Preston
6. Ultimate Beer by Michael Jackson
7. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
8. Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets & Solutions, Fourth Edition (Hacking Exposed) by Stuart McClure
9. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
10. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

11. Stupid White Men ...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation! by Michael Moore

I've already read four books on the list or they're at home on the shelf.

And the other books seem a bit rubbish for getting oneself flagged.

Another google search brings up this: http://todgoldberg.typepad.com/tod_goldberg/2007/11/a-conversation.html

Also another blog says there's 878 titles on the flag list but no one can get access to the list.. so...

One of the comments at the bottom holds this very interesting piece of information:

The Anarchist Cookbook,
Improvised Munition,
Behold a Pale Horse,
The Big Book of Revenge,
Steal This Book,
Quotations From Chairman Mao Tse-Tung,
Che's Book on Guerrilla Warfare

That, I feel, is a much better list!

So here goes...

I couldn't find the anarchist cookbook in the central library in Birmingham so offered it as a "stock suggestion".

They didn't have the improvised munitions or behold a pale horse. So offered those as stock suggestions too.

The didn't have quotations from Chairman Mao but they DID have "The Private life of Chairman Mao: the memoirs of Mao's personal Physician Dr. Li Zhisui". Not quite stuck gold with that one but I'm hopefully. Clicked reserve and hoping for the best.

And no Che's book of Guerrilla warefare. *sigh*

I was starting to be convinced that the city council didn't want me to get my books. But they'll have it on record that I made these requests.

No matter whether it will get you flagged or not, I think everyone should read Cat's Cradle. It is AMAZING.

Ordered.
