DIY Audio Book by IntermezzoBeard

June 29th, 2007 3:38 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make a recording of yourself reading a book you enjoy. Give the audio book to a friend or stranger as a gift.

-I decided to read some stories. Some are personal favorites, some are stories I used to teach. I've included each track's length in its title.

-There are a few errors in pronunciation, a few transposed, added, or dropped words, a few stutters. Perfection has never been my watchword. Sometimes Exactitude, or Mastery, frequently Whatever Works, but not Perfection.

-I'm stopping at nine stories because of the volume of data I'm uploading here. I just realized I've got more than two hours of me talking. Any more and I'd have to submit this for "epic" status. It's tough, though. There are a lot of great stories I haven't gotten to.

These stories are taken from the following books:

Writing Fiction: A Guide to Narrative Craft, seventh edition, by Janet Burroway
The Story and its Writer, compact seventh edition, edited by Ann Charters
Super Flat Times, by Matthew Derby
Descent of Man, by T.C. Boyle
In Persuasion Nation, by George Saunders
