"The moderators on this site are a bunch of morons."
SIR, THAT IS AN INSULT. I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL. I PROPOSE THE FOLLOWING:
- You shall choose an SFZero task, of greater-than-level 1 (15 pts) value, that has not been completed by anyone yet.
- This task must not be Event-specific (e.g. Sweet Cheat Gone)
- Deactivated Tasks shall be considered admissible (I will re-activate it for our purposes).
- Due to the structure of this duel, the generally accepted reading of the task must not require spending more than 48 hours working on it. Whether you have a creative workaround or not, Underground, for example, would not be an acceptable choice.
- We must both be eligible to complete this task. That is to say, it must be no higher than Level 3 (my current level), and must either be a "general" (i.e. non-group) task or a [BIOME OR Aesthematics] task. In a game of law, we must not ignore these restrictions for the sake of a duel.
- You or your chosen second shall inform me and my chosen second of your task selection by MIDNIGHT Eastern Standard Time (DST in effect) Friday night / Saturday morning (that is to say, 5/26/07 00:00:00). Choose wisely.
- The seconds shall certify that no work on this task - including, but not limited to, building, diagramming, notating, or writing - be undertaken before MIDNIGHT Eastern Standard Time (DST in effect) Friday night / Saturday morning (that is to say, 5/26/07 00:00:00). It shall nevertheless be noted in the rules that this effectively allows you a roughly 36-hour conceptual "head start".
- It shall be noted in these rules that this is a duel, rather than a war. As such, encouragement is the only form of support either duelist may seek from a third party. This rule does not exclude unknowing (i.e. ignorant of this duel and of SFZero) participants (e.g. people who use a Public Easel).
- Participants shall submit proof of their completion of said task by MIDNIGHT Eastern Standard Time (DST in effect) Sunday night / Monday morning (that is to say, 5/28/07 00:00:00).
- The duelist with the highest vote total for the chosen task as of MIDNIGHT Eastern Standard Time (DST in effect) Wednesday night / Thursday morning (that is to say, 5/31/07 00:00:00) shall be declared the winner of this duel, and sole recipient of bragging rights, moral high ground, gentlemanly honor, and other such social satisfactions.
- The seconds shall certify that no deceitful manipulation of the vote totals has occurred.
I choose as my second Sara Johnsen - friend, roommate, and not an SFZero 'mod'.
Do you accept?

Sean: I probably won't do too well in the duel. God knows, I'm not making many friends here. I've never turned a duel down in my life before, though (yes, I've been challenged to duels before), so I accept your terms.
Expect a message soon where I will name my second and the weapon, er... task to be done. :)
I'll take as little of a conceptual head start as I can. As soon as I choose a task I'll let you know ASAP.
To the rest of you: My previous comments stand... and my adversarial and combative attitude got me a sweet duel with a mod. So there. Nayh :p

A crafty maneuver! But one that fails the two provisions of the first rule:
"- You shall choose an SFZero task, of greater-than-level 1 (15 pts) value, that has not been completed by anyone yet."
Shall we alter that rule? If so, we'd need some further rule-elaboration:
1. Level/group limits for the three (+) tasks are out? Standard SFZero rules apply - so tasks you've already done are out.
2. As such, the tasks must be current, active tasks (not retired). But, they need not be tasks that no one has completed.
3. Start / finish times and the prohibition against collaboration remain in effect with regard to the three (+) simultaneous tasks.
So, another task? Or Multi-Tasking with the additional rules?

My understanding was that Multitasking was asking a player to perform 3 or more tasks, but it doesn't specify that you have to post the evidence to each task or that you have to get the points for each task. I understood it to mean that you can perform any tasks that have ever been in the game regardless of level, group, or retired status. All evidence would have to be posted to multi-tasking. If you post evidence for each task to each of the tasks performed then that's your prerogative.
I always thought that perform means to do what the task says but complete means to perform the task and post the evidence to said task. One can perform without completing. See what I mean?

I'm not sure if this should set a precedent for Multi-Tasking or not, but I think this is an appropriately epic reading for such an important duel: all tasks are on the table. I think, in the spirit of "duel" vs "war", the collaboration rules should stay in effect. I daresay that completes this dueling framework?
