Ask a Dumb Question by Bus Driver, TheMuse Sassalot

While moving, a DVD was accidentally left in the tray of the DVD player, became dislodged and got stuck in the "guts" of the machine. Not to be bothered with fishing it out, I just left it there. When my new roomates would attempt to watch DVDs over the next few weeks, they would encounter this horrible grinding sound. When this finally happened around me, I immedatley knew what the problem was and informed Busdriver, who promply opened the back of the machine and removed the offending disk.
My question to him was "Is the disk ok?"

Yeah. THAT noise. Just sometimes it would sound like an industrial lathe, and I wondered what was so broken about the DVD's I was putting in the player until Muse told me what the problem was.
So, there this disc is, sitting inside the player, being etched and pitted by other spinning disks. I fish the offending coaster out, and look at the scratched up surface, with deep pits.
I toss it over to Muse for curious inspection when she asks me the fateful question...
Here's your sign.
