We moved into an old house in West Oakland, in the ghetto. The house is in a run down industrial area, and has seen much disuse, neglect, and abuse. We call it the Crack Palace, because of the crack dealers at the end of the block, and the cracks and decay in the house.

In addition to simply being old, the entropy of neglect had taken hold and started much decay without the usual maintenance or upkeep. Since we moved in, he renewal process has started, but the photo illustrates some the milder aspects of neglect and decay in the house.
