Long Haired Freaky People Need Not Apply by K!

INSTRUCTIONS: Document a confusing, unsettling, or contradictory officially-placed
sign. Explain why it might have this effect.

This should help prepare you to think outside the box...

I was in Canada going on a nature hike, and at the beginning of the trail I saw this sign: "Notice to hikers: Wolves are known to frequent this area. They usually avoid people but have attacked dogs. For safety reasons please leave dogs at home."

Along the trail, we ran across four dogs, none of them leashed. That's not really a contradiction, though. People were just ignoring the sign.

But on the way back, I saw how they might have become confused. There, only a few feet from the first sign, was a receptacle for dog poop pick-up bags.

I think they're sending a mixed message, don't you?

Those crazy Canadians!

But keep our forests clean! (You can even see the other sign in the background...)

Were you in BC?? I lived in Vancouver for a while and I know how crazy them canucks can get.

I love how the poop pickup bag sign is translated into French and the warning sign isn't . Too bad for the Frenchies and Quebecoise (and their dogs).

Interesting point...

Apparently the French-speakers in this forest need a little extra reminder to pick up their poop, but are fully aware of the danger of wolves.

Yay vacations

Yes, I was on vacation and the pictures taken are from Prince Rupert, BC near the Butze rapids.
