Not The intended Use by Alex Matchke

July 22nd, 2008 1:57 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Use something but not for its intended use.

Well I initially liked this idea in general, but decided also i could make something practical in the meantime-an insence holder. my apologies about the photos, the lighting and focus is poor

to do this task, i needed
A long can
a paper clip
a knife
a toothpick
incense sticks

i used the knife to poke small holes all over the can

then i used a toothpick to ream the holes out and make them round

then i took my paper clip and strightened it out. then i shaped it in a tight loop as shown here

this was to serve as the thing that would actually hold the incense

next i secured the incense stick between the sides at the bottom of the loop on the paper clip, and lit it.

then, after blowing it out to an ember, i put it ember side down into the can opening, with the protruding paper clip lengths holding it from falling in

and there we have it! a can is now an incense holder!

it's cool but i wish you could've gotten good pictures of the smoke coming out of the holes like you said you tried to. i really liked the paperclip idea though; getting the incense secure would've stumped me
