The admin here at work got a call from a collection agency saying that she had to come up with $4000 by 3pm or the police were going to come and arrest her. She of course freaked out but it turns out that the agency was bogus.

Somehow they had gotten ahold of some debt account info and all her personal info and had found her work number and was using that to convince her to send money. After she called them back to tell them she was in contact with the DA they berated her and repeated their lies. The feds have been seeking them for a while but their address info is fake and they keep switching 800 numbers and accounts all the time.
