MN0PQ2: Spies Like Us by Rao, Darkaardvark, JJason Recognition

August 27th, 2008 9:24 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Participate in the running or playing of MN0PQ2. Write up your experience.

We apologize for the lack of photographs, but sudden plan shifts meant we had no photographer. Consider this praxis a teaser for more photos.

Darkaardvark: I arrived along with Rao at the starting line without too much time to spare, only to find that helpimabear had to cancel at the last minute, and so we'd be a 3-man team. That was fine, because Team Think McSpyfast doesn't just think fast, they spy fast.

Highlights:

-The initial challenge to determine who got to see the first puzzle first was to make a contraption to launch a scrabble tile the farthest. We came in second, despite not getting a rubber band that all the other teams got. Take that!

-JJason's continual need to make sure the 'bribes' for hints were actually bribes--he would walk over to whoever was running the checkpoint, 'accidentally' drop some money... well, you get the picture.

-Continually giving in to get first hints, then discovering the inevitable: That they told us what we knew immediately upon seeing the puzzle. Much cursing and fist-shaking ensued.

-About mid-way through, being informed that we were the first to get to the puzzle, and enjoying a seemingly healthy lead for the next several puzzles up to the final pzuzle.

-Spending our walks between puzzles pondering just what the hell the possible connections between code words could be ("Are we supposed to kill Dr. Kaiju with out purple badger scissors?")

Noting my approval of October 25th. If it is then, consider there a very good chance of me being there.
