Photo Competition Number 1 by Emily Passerine

January 27th, 2006 10:33 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Form small teams. Each team has 1.5 hours to take the following pictures:

* Text [ prominently featuring text of some kind, in any language ]
* Portrait [ either of someone you know or a stranger ]
* Black & White
* Place Of Business [ of or in a place of business ]
* Corner of Stockton & Post [ where the streets meet - choose a different corner if you aren't in SF ]
* 5 Wild Cards [ of whatever you like ]

The picture categories may overlap (black & white + text, for example). You must have at least one picture of each kind.

After 1.5 hours, meet up and share results.

On Wednesday over milkshakes I had enlisted the help of my friends Rob and Seren for the photo competition. Apparently, I was supposed to call them. But then I got home from work on Thursday and got so enthralled with uploading PDFs about studying natural speech in the fMRI scanner to my website, CubeReview, that I really just let the time go by. When Seren finally called, it was on the late side of early and he was on his way to the gym. It turned out that both he and Rob had a birthday party to go to later. Long story short, they came over for a bit but we didn't get any picture taking done, mostly because Seren and I are really close to finishing the fifth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and we really wanted to see what was going to happen now that Buffy's mom died of an aneurism, following the surgical removal of a brain tumor. I have nothing to say for myself. After Rob and Seren left, I took a shower. Then I sat down to review for an exam the next day, and that's when I decided it was time to take this photo competition a little more seriously. So this is the result. I think it's pretty lame to do an activity that's really just about doing stuff in a way that leads to doing the least amount of stuff possible. I'm sorry.
