INSTRUCTIONS: Photograph a most normal, pedestrian view of the world around you. Crop the photo down to a distinct and beautiful vision. Show us the difference.

There's always something interesting happening in any image. Sometimes it requires a little bit of work to find, but the keen eye can always discern it, either by adding information or carefully subtracting it.

Consider this friendly conversation at breakfast, as witnessed by Speck and I:

A Casual Conversation at Breakfast

It seemed friendly enough, but further inspection discovers that one listener doubted the speaker's tale. And for his doubt, he received a stinging blow to the face. A duel was declared at that very spot.

Dreading an Incoming Slap

After being stunned by this violent turn, Speck and I retreated to some distance away, to study the innocent play of a nearby child.

A Picturesque Scene at Breakfast

But upon further study, we realized that this was no normal child. Her preternatural perception was such that she could see Speck - who assures me that he lives only in the dead pixels of my camera's lens. Nevertheless, the evidence is clear and there can only be one explanation: the child is a tenth-dimensional, cosmically aware, omni-baby.

Discovery of the Unseen

And so, what had been an ordinary day at the breakfast shop, when examined in more detail, becomes a world full of unexpected challenges and children of tremendous power.

What a wonderfully unpredictable world.

I figure, even if the pictures themselves aren't great, a good story and presentation can make for some decent proofing.

Glad to see they're appreciated!
