January 15th, 2008 10:10 PMOkay, cool. I gotta make it work. What is IT? Possibly the worst card in the Lorwyn Set of Magic The Gathering (a game that I love) Colfenor's Plans. This card is bad...BAD! Thats what people tell me. Store owners, Players, Pros. You name em' They say this card is bad. So I set about making it work! The rules I laid down for this task are thus.
-The deck must call for 4 copies of Colfenor's Plans
-The deck must REVOLVE around Colfenor's Plans
-The Deck must be type2 Legal
Okay! So lets see why this card is so damn bad. Hmmm....Makes you skip your draw step...Can't play more then one spell a turn. Thats pretty harsh.
What are its redeeming features? Well...You can play cards removed from the game by Colfenor's Plans as if they are in your hand, thats good because when it come into play you take your top seven cards and remove them from the game.
Thats nice, the pros sentence is longer then the cons, that gives me a bit of hope. The biggest problem is the one spell a turn bit...thats painfully restrictive...What if I used cards that were not spells? Thats the wall! All cards that are not lands are spells! Argh!
So I went out to meat up with my friends for a few games and some card trading, One of them played a Gargadon Deck...THATS IT!!! SUSPEND! ITS NOT A SPELL! ITS GENIUS! IF I PLAY SUSPEND CARDS I CAN PLAY WITH THE BIG HAND THAT THAT RESTRICTIVE COLFENOR'S PLANS GIVES ME!
AWESOME! What do I need now? Suspend spells. And a way to get Colfenor's Plans off the board if I need to. And so I set to work on a deck an expensive deck, that I would never dare (or have the cash) to make, Proxie this up and play a few with it instead.

Yeah, So I could never afford to build this deck but DAMN. Thats a nice deck. Good Stuff, Whats it take to play suspend decks well? Forsight and card advantage. What does Colfenor's Plans give you? Massive amounts of cards and the epic power to suspend to time your spells together. FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE! Not bad for "The worst rare in lorwyn" Mission accomplished! It works. And well.

Curses! I will make this work if it kills me!! The donate idea is pretty cool, that was my first idea, but eh. I liked the suspend idea better. If only the removed cards worked with Void maw, that would rock.
I went to prerelease for Morningtide today...man that was fun. But yeah! An idea! A PLAN! COLFENOR'S PLAN!! This combos with Maralen The stupid elf. If both players take 3 damage and tutor a card each draw step, Well...colfenor's plans prevents the damage Because you never get a chance to draw. Maybe in a rogue deck, with all the quick hits...its still coming along! I WILL make this work!
I think it'll work. Beware though, Suspend won't be in for too much longer.
Also, suspend totally works with Colfenor.

Anything that you'd previously suspended will work (but count as your play for the turn), and you can suspend anything left in your hand. But suspend's static ability only functions while it's in your hand; Colfenor's Plans gives you cards in the removed-from-play zone (you don't have the ability to play themas if they were in your hand, just to look at and play them). Take a look at "502.59. Suspend" in the comprehensive rules.
