Here's my 24 Hours of automation:
- 0-1 - Baby monitor beeps to alert me of movement
- 1-2 - Bug zapper turns off
- 2-3 - Filesharing download completes
- 3-4 - Hot tub heater clicks on
- 4-5 - Refrigerator clicks off
- 5-6 - Automated virus scan and backup
- 6-7 - My mail is being sorted at the post office
- 7-8 - Toilet refills (and shuts off) after a flush
- 8-9 - Somewhere a machine is processing the food waste that I put down my garbage disposal at dinner last night
- 9-10 - A site on the internet is sending me a birthday reminder.
- 10-11 - Email client pulls down my email and sorts out spam
- 11-12 - Laundry dryer cycles through wrinkle free mode as I ignore the buzzer
- 12-1 - Traffic signal slows my progress as I head out to lunch
- 1-2 - Railroad crossings drop to prevent me from getting squished
- 2-3 - An alert pops up on my screen reminding me of a meeting.
- 3-4 - Air Conditioning cranks up to keep the office cool
- 4-5 - Talking Billy Bass mumbles something about a machine getting rebooted
- 5-6 - Headphones pick up ambient noise and produce sound canceling signals
- 6-7 - Voice mail picks up call that I'm avoiding
- 7-8 - Song ends and mp3 player shuffles
- 8-9 - Screen saver thinks that my screen needs saving.
- 9-10 - Pager goes off to signal broken job at work
- 10-11 - Email list is making 150 copies of my post, mailing them to all my friends, and archiving a copy for posterity.
- 11-12 - Digital Camera shuts down after offloading photos
