Monitor police communications. by a actinism torrents joins

INSTRUCTIONS: Monitor police communications in any manner of your choosing.

First task , not very anarchic or silly , more detection avoidance ,spotted this as it is something I have an interest in through work,I knew work had a scanner somewhere in one of its engineering rooms so I "borrowed" it and took it home. After a while of fruitless scanning across wavelengths I got nothing.I consulted a book I found about scanners that had a list of frequencies used by airports and emergency services. The book was entitled "Scanning Into The Future".....it was written about 16 yrs ago so all the info was out of date.Bin
Geek|on|After a bit of research I found out that my regional British Police force -Thames Valley Police has gone to a heavily encrypted digital system called Airwaves. It is provided by a large UK satellite and transmission company called Arqiva who now also run all of the UKs analogue TV masts. No way was I going to get access to the algorithms to get into it,but I did however learn that the Metropolitan Police still use analogue radio communication as there are complications with using the newer technology in such a built up area.
So I head into work in London and get the scanner out , knowing they use very high frequencies VHF AM modulation it wasnt long before i got some recordings. However , the Met Police have a system where communcations are scrambled by changing frequency every 4 seconds to a set of about 6 or 7 other frequencies, the special police receiver thingy changes frequency accordingly so the officer on the ground can get the full message. So i have a few snippets of conversations involving police in central london responding to low level street crime etc.I have not yet found a way to connect the scanner to my laptop but please give me some points as I want to submit the evidence of my Reverse Shoplifting task which i don't have enough points for :(
As opposed to the USA I think ( correct me if I am wrong)- monitoring police communications is illegal here.Yep thought that would bother you lot :P The scanner I used I believe was used for news gathering before legislation prohibited this.Geek|off|

This was a bit too much like coursework to do, next task I will do something more silly
