Robarts Library is by far the largest library on U of T's campus and is one of the least-liked buildings by the student population. This is probably due to its unusual design. Besides being massive, it has very high ceilings and drab coloring, it's also super confusing once you get inside of it. Its construction is in most ways pretty illogical. But I've always been sort of fond of it ever since I came to U of T. Its selection of books is unmatched and I kind of like the pure absurdity of its existence. I should also probably mention that it's peacock-shaped. Nonetheless, I am in the minority on this so I decided to let Robarts know it has at least one friend.


My letter:
Dear Robarts Library,

I admit our first meeting was not the most cordial, I became lost in your innards and never really found what I was looking for. You may be aware that you are not the most beloved part of campus to most students, in fact you are rather hated. Your massiveness and unusual architecture inspire loneliness and alienation in most. But I get you, Robarts Library, I get what you're about.

Other people may not understand you, but I appreciate your absurdity. You're a library shaped like a fucking peacock for crissakes. Not to mention the fact that you're the biggest part of the 3rd largest campus library system in North America, that demands respect! No, I get you Robarts, I think you rock. You and the ridiculous selection of Jane Austen titles you contain. Rock on.
