Work is So Strange by Stephen Wong

October 25th, 2006 12:18 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Describe in some detail the strangest thing that happened to you at work in the past week. If you don't work, describe the strangest thing that happened to you during a leisure activity.

I was taking a drink order from a customer and he ordered a "cuba libre". Not knowing what that was I asked him to explain it to me. Which of course he did, and then told me to ask the bartender about it as well.

Later though I asked him where it came from, which drew a blank from everyone in the restraunt. Shouldn't you know what your ordering, especially if you explain it to the waiter like an authority?

Wait a minute. He ordered a Cuba Libre and didn't know where it came from?

I heard tell they originated in Outer Mongolia.

It's a sort of dubious distinction. You might want to spend a little more time on these things. The excitement and initiative are good! Try to funnel some of that energy into making tasks bigger and more creative, maybe?

i meant no dubious connotation. but generally (for me) a neat little project, is much funner than sitting in front of my computer typing.

unlike your predecessors who've held that imaginary title i made up, i think your task completeions (with POSSIBLE exception of donate blood) are valid and a couple made for an intersting read.

That's actually not strange at all.
