The wall I chose:

The wall with the letter on it:

The letter itself:

The wall of the barn, where I put my letter

I picked this wall as the place to hang my letter, but unfortunately I didn't realize there were stinging nettles in front of it! I have nasty stings all over my legs from leaning over them, trying to reach the wall.
The letter

It reads, "Dear Barn, I'm writing to you to say goodbye. This place is slated for development and you'll be gone soon. I wanted to tell you how sad I am about this. I love to visit you because you are so old and beautiful. The ivy on your walls and the swallows nesting in your rafters make you seem alive and mysterious. I wonder who built you, and when, and why they abandoned you. I wonder what memories they have of you. Did they, like me, come out here at night to watch the fireflies rise out of the soybeans, while your shadowy shape sits like a ship in an ocean of light?"
The rash from the stinging nettles

Man, those things REALLY hurt. Next time I romp through the tall grasses, I will not wear a skirt.

Yeah, I really should have known better. But it was so hot out, I convinced myself a skirt would be OK. And I was very wrong.
The letter is rather touching. Poetic.
(And, for a wide variety of reasons including but not limited to stinging nettles, I recommend always wearing long pants when romping through tall grasses or overgrown areas.)
