1 Blank White Card by Luai Lashire
July 12th, 2008 2:11 PMI played the game with my mom, dad, and little brother (age 10). The resulting game was pretty hilarious and moose-filled.
The best card of the game was not notable for the card itself, but for the way it was played. This is the card:

My little brother played this card at my father. At that point my father had been turned into a moose because of a card he played on the first round of the game, and later he had eaten a dragon my little brother had acquired. My little brother retaliated by playing the flower card, which he claimed the moose was allergic to, and therefore the moose sneezed up his dragon. Everyone was quite impressed by this creative use of a card with no writing on it.
More cards below.
Flower

I drew this card before the game began. It ended up being played by my little brother. I didn't have anything in particular in mind when I made it, but he came up with a very creative use. At this point in the game, my father had played a card that turned himself into a moose. Then he ate my little brothers' dragon. My brother played this card and explained that moose are allergic to these flowers. Therefore, he claimed the card made my dad sneeze up his dragon.
Dragon's nest

My little brother's creation: "Stumble upon nest of dragons gain one dragon." He played it for himself, of course.
Dragons FTW

By this point in the game, there were a lot of pineapples floating around, and most of the players had a few. It was probably my fault. When I explained the card creation process, I used an example involving pineapples. Everyone seems to have found it amusing and decided to incorporate pineapples into the game.
Cheese!

This card caused a lot of laughs when it was played, but unfortunately the resulting poem was fairly boring.
Get all the cards

My mother mostly made cards that directly affected game play. Later on, she realized the full potential of the game and used the cards to get her children to entertain her.
Moose

My dad wrote about five of these at the beginning of the game. By the end we'd all changed species so much we lost count.
Nose-pulling

My mother realizes the game's potential for entertainment. At this point in the game, my father was the only moose.
Rain

This one was created as part of a pair. It ended up in my little brother's hand, and he played it at me.

My vote is for your mother and her learning curve. It reminds me of the time that my little brothers and I taught our family to play Mafia. We had a big game involving my brothers, myself, our parents, our grandfather and step-grandmother, and several of my little brother's friends. The game went well and nearly everyone quickly picked up on how the game worked, except for the fact that my mother was completely unable to vote for the death of any of her children, even when they were OBVIOUSLY MAFIA and VERY SUSPICIOUS.
One of the most fun things about silly/group/parlor games such as 1KBWC, Mafia, etc is taking them into new social environments and seeing what happens.
:) Thanks for the vote!
Yes, I agree with you about the games- sometimes it's like a completely different game.
I think the most fun I had playing a board game in a strange situation was when we played a spy game with my grandmother. My grandmother was one of the first women in the CIA, back in the cold war. Everyone there knew this, and were all kind of in awe of her. So my little old grandmother became a terrifying enemy.
"gain one dragon"
I love it.
