Player Portrait by Mandu

July 6th, 2006 2:19 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Paint a fellow player - we'd really prefer that you use their player photo as your model, though. Any medium/style, but let us know what you end up doing with it.

Okay, so I joined U of A partially because of my location, and partially because I really enjoy trying to make things look nice, but the embarrassing part of it all is: I have no artistic talents. I don't draw or paint or take photos, I just appreciate aesthetics from afar. That being said, I decided to do a quick sketch of SF0 player Julie, aka Teaspoon, whom I happen to know quite well in real life.
This silly little pencil drawing looks nothing like the real girl, but I like the comic-esque quality of her player photograph, so I thought it would be a good "original" with which to work.
I don't know if this even techincally counts as fulfilling the task, since it asks the player to "paint" a fellow player. Aye, well, this is what I have.

OMG I have no artisitc talent either!!
But I think that's a very nice drawing, so I think you are lying about the lack of talent.

first off, you snapped the photo that is the background of this picture, so quit your lying about no artistic talent. granted, i artsed it up a little bit on the computer, but the composition of it is pretty dramatic, no? remember when you came with me to look at that apartment about a billion years ago and the owner pretty much came out and said that he would not let me live there? he was my favorite.

i love your rendering of my sharp hair. it really captures my hair's actual sharpness, which is of course a direct result of being constantly sharpened by my supersharp eyes.

my only wish for this drawing is that the watch i am wearing in it should be shooting electric sparks due to the fact that it was being electrocuted by my wrist at all times.

i am having one of those moments where i am pretty sure i only make sense to myself!
