Renew An Old Correspondence by miss sierra

September 29th, 2006 6:16 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a letter to someone that you or your character has not heard from in a long time.

i used to be a great writer corresponder in high school. i used to make elaborate cards and envelopes, send random fun things, 'care-package-style'. I used to maintain friendships across great distances and over time.
I was good. I was an only child. i was totally socially stunted and i found it easier to have delayed relationships and really be all alone, but achieving great things and developing a sense of efficacy (sort of like this SF0 thing).

but then a terrible thing happened. i learned how to have immediate real relationships with people near me... and those that i had postally courted fell by the way side. I have had a very successful run of having real friends where ever i have lived, but undoubtedly, as often happens to all people, they loose touch with those whom they used to be so close with. no longer was i spanning time and space. I WILL NOT LET THIS GO ON> I WILL REVIVE MY OLD CREATIVE CARING< HOWEVER REMOVED SELF> I WIL CORRESPOND>
i know it sounds like i am making fun.. and although i am ... only of myself. the other submissions have been profound and daring.

i decided to find those long lost friends... and so i went all out. i had to: stalk folks on the internet...
i had to bake cookies...
I had to find trinkets that would make each friend smile
i had to compile all in boxes...
i had to post them.

the woman at the post office wanted my cookies* note if sending large quantities of cookies bring one for the post lady.

and then they were off into the world...

but that is not the end of my story.
i then took a trip north... on which i rediscovered these old friends... (most of them happen to be living in Seattle or Portland... ) and know they all know each other... they might even become friends.
