Fear Factor by Stevan Perea

July 26th, 2006 11:21 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Do something that scares you. If you are scared of spiders? pick a few up and make them pets for a day; heights? go to the golden gate bridge and look over and down for a few minutes; ghosts? spend some time in a graveyard ; dark? record audio of your experience in realtime. Bonus points for overcoming a phobia.

This task should be kept a minimum of 1 to 2 players, since the whole "safety in numbers" thing might dampen the fear factor in the task.

As usual, creativity in documentation is imperative.

So i decided to make crossing the Golden Gate a two part task, clearly it would be the Golden Gate stroll, but at the same time I am absolutely scared to death of heights. Clearly I knew that the bridge would not just drop or anything but I could still feel my feet getting really tingly as we were all walking up to it. We finally got on the bridge and I could feel like all of the cars driving over and every time that a large truck would drive by I could feel the ground move more and more...clearly making me feel as though my legs were going to lock up at any moment. I didnt want to go anywhere near the edge but considering that there were so many people on bikes I had to move near the edge every 10 seconds to let someone pass. I dont exactly know why I was so scared, but I did know that I just needed to get off the bridge after a little while being up there. On a final note, I have no clue what I was thinking but I just figured that there wouldnt be tons and tons of people walking the bridge too...im and idiot...its the Golden Gate bridge during the height of tourist season!!! There were people EVERYWHERE!!! anyways I am happy to be alive and I still kinda hate heights...:-)
