Confession by Grey Ghost
August 14th, 2007 2:39 PMSome other players accused me of “image sourcing” or some such nonsense, implying that my images were simply pulled off of the web. Although I am guilty of using some of my own photos as proofs, I am not guilty of grabbing any random image to fit the task.
What I am guilty of is much, much worse: thinking creatively to work with the resources I have available. A thousand pardons for any offence caused by this, really. (Those big red X’s really hurt.)
My problem is that I lost my software for uploading from my camera (FinePix), as my main system has crashed I will have to obtain a copy of this software (from the retailer or online?) to upload on my backup system. I wanted to get some easy points by retroactively completing some tasks. Please forgive me I am truly ashamed by this breach of game protocol. I am learning from my mistakes.
(I took these pictures at car-hendge, in Alliance NE., whilst on a road trip.)

Car hendge is sweet! All Hendges are sweet for that matter.
Don't take it personally. We've just had some...bad experiences in the past with people jumping to level 5 in a matter of days, with ONLY completions that were a sentence or two and maybe a semi-related photo. It's made us a little twitchy.
Incidentally, most (if not all) OSes can read cameras without any outside software. Works just like a USB memory stick. It even works in reverse for some (but not all) cameras; you can store arbitrary files on the camera to load back onto the computer at a later date.
Yay! I read your flagged completions and I felt bad for you... I hate it when bitter comments put off new players. But this completion turns the whole thing on its head beautifully!
Points for spirit!
You are forgiven. Go now, and sin no more.
And also, check out Amarillo, TX's Cadillac Ranch. I took a road trip through the US and this was the most spiritual place I'd been. Wow.
And you can go to the Big Texan and eat a 72oz steak. Wow.
And by the way, Stanley Marsh 3 is a saint:
In 1999, Marsh disrupted a live television broadcast from Amarillo by the cable television network The Weather Channel when he performed a Native American snow dance in front of the cameras.
Read his wikipedia article.
I fully support this task completion. I am sorry that you had to suffer through my dear friend, the Big Red X, in order to achieve a good Praxis.
I look forward to your future completions.
P.S. If you are "thinking creatively," there is always a way to document an event.
