Hey You Haiku by Nora Sawyer

December 12th, 2007 12:47 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: This requires a bit of free time to people watch.
Oh, haiku are 5/7/5, by the way. They are usually about nature and simplicity.

1. Spend time in a public place like a park or parking lot
2. Pick an individual you notice
3. Write a haiku about them or for them on a sticky note
4. Stick it to their car/dog/shopping cart
5. Maintain invisibilty throughout this task

Pictures to come.

There's this guy I always see on the 71 (Haight St.) bus. He looks just like Eddie Murphy in a fat suit. Every morning, it's so hard not to stare. Is it Eddie Murphy? Have I jumped to an alternate universe?

Anyway, this morning I wrote him a haiku. I didn't take his picture (if someone thought I looked like, say, Gwennyth Paltrow in a fat suit, I wouldn't want them posting *my* picture on the internets). But I did leave a post-it on the seat for him.

The text:

Seventy-one bus
You look like Eddie Murphy,
Nutty Professor.
