Oblivion
One of the best books I've read in the past couple years, but also one of the most torturous. In a way that only DFW can, the author sets out to taunt and abuse the reader with gripping stories that come ever so close to climax only to wander away on self-indulgent tangents and leave you hanging in the end. Reading this book makes you feel like Charlie Brown to Lucy's football.
To heighten this intentional excrutiation, I've cut out the last page of a few of the most flagrant offenders. Imagining the screaming fits this is liable to provoke in unsuspecting readers fills me with girlish giggles. Better still, the thought that they might actually go to the trouble of seeking out an unmolested copy only to be similarly disappointed. Tee hee.
This book has already found its way onto the shelves at a local book store, where it will hopefully soon find a loving home.

Have you read infinite jest by DFW? That novel (beautiful and intricate) does the same fucking thing... and I didn't see it coming... I was fuming.
